Spirit of Youth to Honor Champion for Children

Former Governor Dolph Briscoe will receive the Boys Town Texas Spirit of Youth Award at a benefit Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio.

Boys Town Texas recognizes and honors, through the Spirit of Youth Award, those individuals whose works, words, actions or examples have had a profoundly positive impact on the lives and dreams of America’s youth. Governor Briscoe has exemplified these criteria through his extraordinary commitment to youth. He has been a generous supporter of Boys Town Texas and the children and families helped by its programs for several years. As an avid advocate for children, Gov. Briscoe has earned several awards, including an induction into the Texas Philanthropy Hall of Fame.

Previous recipients of the Boys Town Texas Spirit of Youth award include USAA, Bill Greehey, Valero Energy Corp. Chairman; First Lady of Texas Anita Perry; Sister Mary Boniface, Healy-Murphy Center Executive Director; San Antonio Mayor Nelson and Tracy Wolff; Rev. Dr. Buckner Fanning; Sam J. Riklin, San Antonio philanthropist; Charline and Red McCombs; Gen. Robert T. Herres, USAF (ret.); Bexar County Judge Peter A. Sakai; Coach Darrell Royal and Coach Gene Stallings, retired college and professional football coach.

Every dollar raised at this exclusive event goes towards the care of at-risk children and families right here in Texas.
