Boosters Raise Record Amount for Athletes

The Boys Town Boosters presented a check to Father Boes and the Athletic Department for a record $85,000 at halftime of the Boys Town football game Sept. 21.

"The Boosters continue to provide outstanding financial support of Boys Town athletics," said Brent Robinson, Boys Town Athletic Director. "These funds will benefit all Boys Town student athletes."

The funds, proceeds of May's Sports Booster banquet, provided a new sound system at the football field and continued remodeling of the Palrang Field House.

"It is very exciting and a high honor to provide these funds to support Boys Town athletes," said Bob Stoffel, Sports Boosters Vice President. "The Boosters are committed to making sure athletics enrich the lives of all youth who participate."

The Boosters provide year-round support to Boys Town athletic programs. The group sponsored kids attending a University of Nebraska Omaha basketball game in December, offset costs for youth attending February's Qwest Center High School Shootout, and helped fund summer youth athletic teams.

The Boys Town Boosters are a group of community leaders who have donated proceeds from their annual banquets since 1969. Past banquets featured famous athletes and coaches such as Ted Williams, Ozzie Smith, Payton Manning, Lou Holtz, Tom Osborne, Dick Vitale, Rick Pitino and Howie Long.
