2008 Boosters Donation Breaks Record
$100,000 to Benefit
Boys Town Athletes
During the Sept. 4 Boys Town shut-out win over West Point-Beemer,
the Cowboys had another reason to celebrate – a record-breaking
$100,000 donation from the Boys Town Boosters.
“The commitment and dedication of the Boosters is so appreciated
by our kids, our coaches and those involved with Boys Town activities,”
said Brent Robinson, Boys Town Athletic Director. “We just
can’t say enough about what they do for us year after year
and the tremendous commitment the Boosters have to our programs.”
More than a dozen Booster members presented the record proceeds
from last May’s Booster Banquet featuring Nebraska Head Volleyball
Coach John Cook. Previously, the record was last year’s $85,000
donation from the 2007 Booster Banquet featuring J.C. Watts. Since
their founding in 1968, Booster donations have increased every year.
Past Booster donations have been used to finance youth summer athletic
programs and numerous projects in the Fieldhouse to benefit Boys
Town youth.
“It is a pleasure and an honor to do our part to help Boys
Town youth succeed,” said Bob Stoffel, Booster Vice President
and Boys Town Information Technology Director. “The Boosters
and their families always have a great time at the games and are
blown away by the awesome spirit and enthusiasm of the students.
I encourage all employees to come to the games, use their Boys Town
I.D. to get in free and experience this atmosphere with our kids.”
The 2009 Booster Banquet will be Thursday, May 7 and organizers
are hoping for an even larger donation. “The Booster Banquet
is such an exciting night for our youth and it always has a positive
message for them,” said Robinson. “The amount of good
for our youth that comes from each Booster banquet and donation
is tremendous and we are so appreciative of the fantastic job the
Boosters do each year.”
