Boys Town Staff Bring Mission to Harvest of Harmony Parade
The Boys Town Nebraska shelter in Grand Island, Neb., participated in the 2008 Harvest of Harmony Parade Oct. 7, sharing the organization’s mission of changing the way America cares for her children and families with parade goers.
"We were excited to participate this year because it was the perfect opportunity for us to highlight our family-style programs," said Dave Reed, Program Director of the Grand Island Shelter.
Youth staying at the shelter helped build the float, creating a fantastic entry for all to see. They learned how to use their social skills to work together and make a product they could all be proud of.
"The kids had a great time building the float and we heard a lot of cheers and applause for Boys Town all along the parade route,” said Reed. “It's great to know the community appreciates what we do to help children and families."
